Elen García
Elen holds a MSc. In Environmental Sciences (University of Granada) and an Advanced Studies Diploma (D.E.A) from the PhD Program Environment, Mining and Sustainable Development (Technical University Cartagena). She also holds a Double Master's Degree in International Law and European Studies (IECS). She has worked as project manager for over 10 years in Europe & Central America on several R&D areas: Maritime and Marine , Agro-Food, Environment, Health, ICT & Photonics. She started her career in Research at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU, Vienna) but soon swifted to European Affairs and started working as a delegate in Brussels representing the agro-food sector.
Before joining the University of Alicante, she was working as Head of the European Projects Office at the Marine Technology Centre (CTN) and previously she was in charge of European / International Projects for different ground-breaking research centres such as: Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and Fundació Clínic (Hospital Clinic Barcelona) where she has submitted several European proposals and managed over 30 FP7 and H2O2O projects.
Since 2017, she has been working as well as Technical Assistance to the Water, Environment and Blue Economy Division of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) where among other assignments she has supported the preparation of Ministerial Declarations, fostered the Education for Sustainable Consumption, Behaviour and Lifestyle accross the Mediterranean and lately contributed to the implementation of the United Nations Ramsar Convention in the Mediterranean Member States.
