University of Seychelles
The University of Seychelles (UniSey) is a national university that offers high-quality, innovative, and market-oriented professional, undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes. The university was registered and licensed by the Government of Seychelles in 2009 and officially inaugurated in 2010. Although it works independently of the government, it operates under relevant public Acts and Authorities. UniSey established its first research institute, the James Michel Blue Economy Research Institute (BERI), in 2015 to support research in environmental science, specifically relating to the Blue Economy. The institute operates within UniSey's framework of operations and aims to create an active academic research and knowledge network that supports an informed, fair, and sustainable Blue Economy. The university currently counts on around 300 students and 80 teachers and administrative staff, making it the only public university in Seychelles.
